Okay so you know how I'm trying to just sit around and wait for Sherlock series three to start up?

Someone, anyone, distract me. -.-

Zoo with Christian tomorrow. Will wear my giraffe scarf that I got from Katherine and try to blend in with them.

I'm hoping it will work.

giraffe kisses: I think this inside joke began on prom night in Noelia's basement.

MY EVERLASTING CREYS. (well at least until series three)

(mini-post.) Books: Hunger Games and Sherlock Holmes

Le boyfriend swooped me away today. So glad, too. It was ridiculously crowded at home. I felt very closed in and cramped. Was nice to spend some time relaxing with him.

Rereading The Hunger Games trilogy again before the film is released. Trying to read it slower this time. Kind of hard to do with the first book cause its so fast-paced but I'm making myself only read it during breaks between classes. But man, I'm just getting more and more excited to see it as a movie. Glad the trailers haven't been giving too much away from the action in the arena. Still picture Peeta and Katniss differently. Gale is starting to look like the actor in my head. I don't like when this happens. The movie hasn't even been released yet, jeez! His face is all over tumblr, though.

So is Benedict Cumberbatch's face. But I like his face. So that's okay.

I mean really, he's adorable in this weird, derpy way. 8D
Yeah okay I'll go now.

P.S. I think I'll reread the Sherlock Holmes collection once I finish The Hunger Games trilogy. To keep me busy till series three is released. IS IT HERE YET? ;-;

My hands hurt from building our bunkbeds. I can't  believe I have to sleep in a bunk bed again. This is fucking stupid. :| My house is too crowded.

I need to move out.

I got home in time to see all the big awards happen. A few comments:

  • So happy Meryl Streep and Jean Dujardin won :D Jean is too adorable. I want to pinch his cheeks.
  • Meryl looked like a life sized Oscar award in all that gold.
  • Billy Crystal is awesome.
  • Guess I have to go watch The Artist now. (should have gone with madre to see it yesterday, le damn.)
  • Still, I watched 3 out of 9 Best Picture nominations this year. Usually I'll see like, one. So that's fine.
  • Gary Oldman, at least you were finally recognized, dude. I love ya.
  • Penelope Cruz holy shit your dress can I have it?
  • I'm stealing the dog.

Spirited Away/Sherlock Nonsense

Been watching a lot of Miyazaki recently. Just found the files for Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away on my laptop and I've been watching them in between classes and stuff. Also went and saw The Secret World of Arrietty earlier today.

Spirited Away is still my favorite out of all the Miyazaki films. There are just so many things I love about it.

I was going to write about how friggin sweet the movie is and how much I love all the symbols in it but I've deleted everything I've written twice now because the words just aren't coming to me. Sigh. I'll just leave you with this gif from the film.

Makes me wish for a good summer rainstorm. Makes me almost smell rain.

P.S. How on earth am I going to get through the year alive without Sherlock? icanticanticanticantJUSTTELLMEHOWYOUDIDITALREADYAHFUHASUDHAS

Oh Blackhawks. I am annoyed at you.

That's okay though, cause this came out today. I'm much more excited for this movie now. All I got from the first trailer was "gingers plus how to train your dragon equals Brave".  Le excite. Excite Excite Excite.

Earlier this week I took Bruno for a walk on Damen so that he could see some of the city's street art. We took pictures.
we noticed there were quite a few of this type of graffiti, where it was drawn on paper and then glued to the wall.

not sure why he's in a pink banana suit...

i fount this amusing.

oh look! a sticker about me! 8D

guh too cool.

The Little Black Box

I've always loved this scene.

Today my mom showed me my great uncle's little box. Small, rectangular, black leather and lined on the inside with red velvet. In it were:

  • two gold watches,
  • several gold rings,
  • four pairs of cuff links,
  • two tie clips,
  • a gold necklace with a Leo pendant,
  • and coins and paper money from Albania, Italy, Germany, Australia, Yugoslavia, US,
  • a drawing and two letters from his son when he was a boy,
  • and a single coin from Vietnam minted in 1964.

All I have left of him fits in a little black box. That, and my teddy bear that he gave me when I was three. (His name is Mr. Bear--clever name, I know)

There are so many things I wish I could ask him. So many questions about the stories of each coin, each ring; what memories does he have from each item, and who did he meet along the way? I especially wish to ask him about his time in the army, but even now that I'm older I doubt he'd say anything about it if he were alive. He barely spoke about it even to my grandpa (his brother), my mom told me. Understandable of course. Who would want to talk about watching their friends die?

Frank, you're just a pile of ash and deep in the ground under a stone plaque, so obviously you won't be able to read this, but I'm writing it anyway: I'm going to hold on to your Vietnam coin. I'm going to keep it in my own little box. I hope the last thoughts you had were nice ones. I wonder what your last words were. I'm sorry things ended badly between you and your son. No one but you has ever called me Cookie. If I ever get a dog it will be a rottweiler. I will name him Tuffy. Thanks for living the life you did. I wouldn't be living mine without you.

Is it summer yet? No?

How about spring break?

I require sun and beaches. *crawls under blanket* Do not wake me up unless my bedroom has been magically transformed into a tropical haven.

P.S. The title is something I actually said to the ocean years ago. I then tumbled around in the waves and was thrown back onto the shore. It hurt. Don't let the waves take you, guys.

20% Cooler

Decided to pay a surprise visit to the boyfriend today.

Thus, the day is now 20% cooler.

P.S. watch the video to understand the reference. (You guys don't know how much I love these fucking ponies.)

boredboredbored :|

It's been an uneventful day. Work, nap, ...that's it.

Wanted to go out, but the two people I regularly see (my cousin Nina and longtime-friend Denisa) were busy and the boyfriend lives too far away to simply "hang out".

So I'm stuck at home, doing nothing.

I hate being bored.

Derp Comic: Dresses

I always end up just talking about how pretty the dresses are when I talk about Downton Abbey to my boyfriend. What? They are pretty.

Thursday, February 16, 2012

My mom likes to do this thing where she annoys the hell out of me by taking my laptop because I "spend too much time looking at computer screens". So I'm stuck using my brother's old piece of crap computer.

:| Oh madre. What am I going to do with you.

Anyway, Christian came to visit me at school today. He doesn't go to Japan till the end of March which basically means he has a super long winter break. Lucky bastard. He sat in at my astronomy lecture and we made jokes about my professor's comb-over. Its delightfully horrid. I shall put up a scan of my notes from the lecture later. There are many doodles and conversations and not so many notes on astronomy. That's fine though cause I've learned all of the stuff we're going over now from my geology class last year.

Kind of distracted with other things at the moment so I'll cut this one short.

Here is a list of pets I would like to have:

  • a cat (but I already have one)
  • a dove (named Archimedes-'its filthy in there') see video -->
  • a tortoise (named Speedy)
  • a piranha (named Mr. Chompers)
  • goldfish (I would feed them to the piranha eventually)
  • a venus fly trap (shut the fuck up it eats bugs okay its a pet if I say it is god dammit)
  • a fat little chipmunk (because i just want to squish one and see it stuff food in its mouth EVERY DAY)
  • a basset hound ( I would train him to attack geese--devil birds)
  • a snake (I would name it Snakey and feed it goose eggs)
  • a little lemur (Fluffy little things)
  • a bear
  • and a frog
the end.

P.S. I also want a sloth because of reasons.

Samurai Champloo

Today we're going to talk about the awesomeness that is the show Samurai Champloo, because last night I found all my episode files on my computer (hidden away in a folder that was hiding in another two folders--FOLDCEPTION) and decided to watch an episode or two. Thus, I was reminded of the show's total brilliance.

Well anway its pretty awesome to me, and anyone who's ever seen it, and if you're a "history of Japan nerd" (there's got to be a better way to say that without saying 'weeaboo') like me, and also like street art and jazz infused hip hop beats (NUJABES I LOVE YOU WHY ARE YOU DEAD *cries*), you'll like Samurai Champloo.

  • I have to admit, the first thing that hooked me was the music. Oh man. Perfect soundtrack. It collides so wonderfully with the setting of feudal Japan yet it also feels as if it utterly belongs there. I love it. First time I watched it the opening credits sucked me into watching more. Opening credits below(the lyrics, oh my god the lyrics. This is good shit.)
    • After watching the entire series I immediately downloaded the entire Samurai Champloo soundtrack because 1. I love soundtracks to shows/movies and 2. Its the best ever. Very relaxing and chill. One of my favorite tracks is Just Forget, by (who else?) Nujabes. Listen here (CLICK IT I SAY) Such a simple loop of soothing sounds. I often listen to this track when I do my chores around the house.
  • Samurai Champloo also has great artwork. I love the combination of modern street art mixed into the feudal Japan setting. Its great. They incorporate rap and beat boxing and graffiti and break dance ( Mugen's style of swordfighting is actually break dance in disguise, or break dancing with a sword. Its wild, erratic, and unpredictable and I just love it) and UGH THEY DO IT SO WELL. See Episode 18 as an example. The animation is fast and simple, not extremely detailed but comes off well.
Screencap of Mugen's tag, a pun on his name, which translates as infinite: 無限
  • The characters: so wild and funny and great. Jin was always my favorite. Bruno and I named our cat after him, because his personality is very much the same. Quiet and expressionless, yet a deadly little hunter. We always thought it was Dolce who killed the birds and little rabbits, but it turned out it was always him.
  • I should have mentioned what Samurai Champloo is about earlier. Oh well, I'll do it now: The main story in a nutshell follows the three characters-- Fu, Mugen, and Jin,-- on their journey to find the samurai who smells of sunflowers. They travel all over Japan and get into all sorts of trouble with different people on their way. Its a huge adventure and we get to follow the three of them around through all of it, and its really funny to see these historical events going on around them (not always in chronological order, which makes it funnier).
  • The show is better when watched in the original Japanese. A lot gets lost in translation through the dubbing. Lots of puns and historical references are missed. It is a better dubbing than some animes though, so I guess its not all bad.
I think I've rambled on enough about Samurai Champloo now. Its a show that's actually very meaningful to me (some basic themes: friendship, struggles and joys of life, loss, and finding a place in the world) and overall just so very enjoyable.

Go watch it.

Sitting here trying to think of a topic for today's post but all that's coming up is how much I hate Jesse's twitter updates.

For fuck's sake, you call yourself a writer? GET AN EDITOR. FUCK.

I hate typos. Big pet peeve of mine. Hate hate hate them. It especially bothers me when they're coming from journalists. Like what the fuck you're supposed to be good at this kind of stuff. I mean you write for a living. GOD. *flips keyboard*

I have nothing more to add. This has been a mini-rant.

Productive Sunday

Productive Sunday is Productive.

I cleaned ALL THE THINGS.

Now my hands are all dry and smell soapy and detergent-y from all the cleaning liquids I used. But that is alright because now the entire house is clean, my clothes are washed, the dishes put away, my homework is done and my nails are polished.

Woohoo! yayay. I like cleaning.

In other news, I finally went and bought my coffee. Felt so good to drink it this morning. And I'm all caught up with Skins. Good lord is it difficult to find a working link now that megavideo is gone. GUH. NOT. FAIR. At lunch my parents and I discussed spring break plans. We have yet to decide whether we are driving or flying to Florida. (Please let it be flying. I can't be in a car with my family for a day and a half.) I also found a bunch of my knitted clothing that I put away for the summer. I hugged the clothes and they were warm and fuzzy. Yay.

I am not watching the Grammy Awards. I hate watching the Grammys. Too many artists I don't like all in one place. Blech.

I have decided I do not care who she is. I still don't like her. Get off Tumblr already, dammit. Ok. I think I'll go find something to eat.

P.S. Still trying to crack the mystery behind Sherlock's season 2 finale. And its still driving me up the wall. afhkjhfsaljsf. :|

long day, short post

Busy day.

I wish I were in the mood to write but I'm just not.

It hasn't been the best of days, but I refuse to skip a day just because I'm not in the mood so i'll just blab about some stuff.

1. Hawks have been frustratingly terrible as of late. I hate it.
2. I need a new job. Its been terribly slow at work and I'm not making any money. I hate this also.
3. I have a lot of chores to do. I like this.
4. I didn't end up making macaroons after a phone call that made me sad. I didn't like this.
5. Guacamole is good. I like it.
6. When does Skins series 6 start up? I miss my fucked up Brits.

P.S. favorite Naomi gif 8D right hurr.

Blogging from an itouch cause I'm cool. Yeah that's about it for this post cause I'm horrid with apple touch screens, so yeah.... No more of this nonsense. More blabbing tomorrow. And now, MORE TEMPLE RUN (I hate this game but I can't stop)

p.s. I'm watching you Hawks. Don't fuck up.

Break time! French is a tongue-tying language. I feel like I should be drunk while speaking it so I can slur my words properly. Its irritating.

Guess what?

GORILLAZ. YEAH. Murdoc tweeted out the two collaborators working with him for the Converse Three Artists, One Song track: Andre 3000 (fucking Outkast, yeah!) and James Murphy.
Song is titled DoYaThing and is set to drop on Feb. 23rd. Needless to say, I am excite.

Hold on I gotta go flail around the library.

To celebrate, lets watch this. Remember jammin to this song in grade school. 8D

Extra post! The Shinfo Master (a doodle)

Le boyfriend likes to tease me when I go on about silly things like pretty dresses from Downton Abbey.

Eating alone is totally cool.

I don't understand why people my age don't like to eat alone.

Everyone sits together. They talk more than they eat. It seems annoying, really.  I like food! And I can't very well enjoy it if I'm talking to somebody the whole time can I?

In my first semester of college I rarely ate alone. Mostly because people would be like COME SIT WITH US and instead of telling them that I'd really much rather just sit and eat my food somewhere and then go back and study, I joined them and got sucked into the conversation. Leaving my plate full.

After the first semester though, my schedule didn't match up and I sat alone most days, whether I wanted to or not. Which was fine, except for the annoying stares I got from people, as if eating alone meant something was wrong with me.

I like eating on my own. I've been used to it since the beginning of my freshman year in high school Every morning I'd get up at 5:30 and ate breakfast alone. I had lunch at school with classmates. I'd get home around 6 or seven and eat dinner on my own because my family had already finished. I like it. It was nice. Eating alone is my thinking time. I sit, eat slowly (I always eat slowly) and make mental notes on what I have to do for the rest of the day. Or I'll sit and wonder about a dream I had, or an event that happened the past day. I think, and I eat.

Its much more enjoyable that way, to me.

Today while eating my lunch alone, I was reminded of last year's spring semester. Got the same odd looks while eating my early lunch (grilled cheese and italian wedding soup--why do they call it wedding soup?). Fuck that. I'm cooler anyway. *hip thrusts*

P.S. Enjoying Murdoc's tweets today. They are making me flail. GIVE ME THE SHOES ALREADY.

I have dreams about robots and metal planets. What the fuck do you dream about?

I've been feeling very doodly as of late. Which is a good thing. I haven't felt the need to draw in some time, and now the ideas are popping up in my head faster than I can draw them. So yay, I am happy.

I have decided to start a little comic series starring yours truly and her derpy gamer boyfriend. Because we're cool. Kind of. Possible title: Derp Love.

(Yeah, shut up, you all know how awesome I am at titles okay)

In other news, I have the fucking coolest dreams ever. And I can remember them! A lot! Last night I dreamt that I traveled to two different planets (none that we know of) with Nina and my family for vacation. The first planet had a very thin atmosphere, so thin that the sky was always black or deep blue and you could see the outline of the galaxy in the sky. When I realized this in my dream I started screaming with joy. Literally screaming.

In my dream.

I've never been able to see that cause its too bright in Chicago but apparently if you go to a more remote place at night you're able to view the outer rings of the Milky Way. That's pretty legit.

SO ANYWAY, we went to this planet to watch the filming of the sixth Harry Potter film (WHAT?) and I don't remember how but Nina and I went to watch and somehow I set fire to the Leaky Cauldron. I also remember that this was vaguely connected to Hagrid, so I'm blaming him.

Then we met up with my parents and my brothers at the next planet, which was completely made of metal. People from Earth had settled down there and were making use of the planets resources, (I imagined the place as a sort of steampunk-themed city, but minus the steam...) and with this extremely cool metal that could generate a lot of energy they made robots that helped them make spaceships and stuff for travel. Then there were other robots that helped people with their daily activities. One robot accompanied Nina and I around the city-planet-thing (I don't know what to call it okay) and walked us to the market (also made of metal. He picked me up and carried me, but I yelled at him to put me down because--and I remember saying this in my dream--"WHERE I COME FROM WE USE OUR OWN FEET TO GET TO PLACES, ROBOT". I woke up as soon as we got to the market where they sold different types of metal. DAMN.

So yeah. That happened. Well it happened in my head, anyway. (#coolperson)

I'll go now.

I'm cool.

I just watched the newest trailer for the Avengers.

Excuse me I'm going to go flail wildly now.

No words. I am too excite for this. Oh man am I ready to rant/rave about this movie. YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

P.S. and because Valentine's Day is coming up and I love Miss Noelle, a Valentine GIF from her:

Sunday, February 5, 2012

So today was my grandmother's birthday (the big 69, woohoo! (haha, 69)) and instead of watching the Superbowl as I had planned, I went to a restaurant with her, my mom, and a few of their friends.

What a mistake. It is beyond awkward sitting at a table with five other women all one generation older than you. Don't do it.

But yeah, anyway, go Giants woooo. Or something.

Yeah I think I'll go to sleep now. Boring day has been boring.

An evening at the cornfields

Blergh -.-

I am le dead.

Back from U of I today. It was lots of fun. Joe, Christian and I had a good time visiting Ashley and Amanda at their apartment. We got to know Ashley's boyfriend Jon, who's a big gamer like Joe and Christian are so of course they all immediately  bonded and exchanged gamer tags and nerd-gasmed everywhere like the losers they are. We played some card game called "I've never" that had some ridiculous statements on it so we all ended up learing about each others sex lives through it and Ashley and I squished each other's tits because we can.

Yay tits.

Paige and Michael came over later on as well and I went with them to see Blake at Sigma Pi for Game Night and played a couple drinking games with him and the others, then finally we put on Bohemian Rhapsody and I flailed everywhere. I squabbled with the Blues fan who lives at the frat and thanked the brother who lent me his Hossa jersey the last time I was there, showed everyone the giraffe Christian drew on me before I left with Paige and Michael and told them it was a real tattoo (of course, being drunk, they bought it).
The giraffe "tattoo". Aww yiss.

Headed back to Ashley's apartment soon after and we all passed out. Its a good thing I don't go to U of I anymore because if I did I'd have a lot more hangovers to deal with and no sleep at all.

Happy to be back in my room where my bed is comfy and cozy. Homework is finished and now I've got chores to do. Man, chores kinda suck when you're doing them for more than just yourself. I like cleaning for me, but I hate cleaning up after my brothers and everyone. How come they don't do it themselves? I got other shit to do. Meh.

OH. Finished Downton Abbey. WOOHOO! The ending, I was le hap. I can't understand the

And I leave you with a ridiculous photo of myself from last night. Because I like making fun of myself.
what a cool person. check out that beard.

ITS FRIDAY: Cornfield Bound

Getting ready to head over to le boyfriend's before we set off for the cornfields. Le excite.

I'm very red today. Red pants. Red striped shirt. Red scarf. Red nails. Red headphones. RED RED RED WOO.

Anyway, I haven't got much time so I'll write a longer post tomorrow.

As Rebecca Black would say, "We we we so excited, we so excited."

Also, because we always sing this at parties, I must post it today:

Thursday, February 2, 2012

I'm going to visit my friends down at U of I tomorrow with Christian and Joe.

Haven't been to Champaign since last May. It should be a fun time.

I'm on the last current episode of Downton Abbey. FHAKJSHFAKSJFL What will I do when its finished? Find a new way to procrastinate I guess.

Hawks...I don't even know what to say. Get it together, holy shit.

Surprises, Doodles, and Gorillaz Converse

First post of the new month, oh ho ho.

So le boyfriend came to surprise me yesterday. He showed up in my living room all quiet like while I was watching TV and like always, I sat there staring and sputtering, dumbfounded. I have the worst reactions to surprises. No surprise parties for me. I'd make a fool out of myself and you'd all be disappointed in my lack of enthusiasm. Its not that I don't like surprises, I actually love them,, but I just don't know how to react to them. Or maybe its better to say my reactions to surprises are really slow.

For example, the first time Joe came down to U of I to surprise me last year, he popped into my dorm room and I stared at him silently, trying to understand what he was doing in my room, while my roommate had already exclaimed how adorable he was for coming to surprise me.

Yeah, slow. (but still so very cool)

Oh yeah, so remember I said I'd be drawing comics and stuff soon? Well I started doodling c:

I don't like being fed. Makes me feel like a baby. But I can compromise.

I have a colored version but I think it looks like crap so I'm not going to put that up here until I get better at Photoshop.

In other news, Murdoc tweeted this earlier today and I died.
The Gorillaz Converse are coming out this month, and so is the 3 Artists, One Song track. SO EXCITE AHHHH. I will drop sixty bucks for a pair of Gorillaz chucks, hell yes. *hip thrusts*

Okay, I'm off.
